There seems to be a tiny sweet spot with the filter when it comes to pads. But sound-wise, I feel like I'm fighting with it. It's really easy to program and a joy to play. Everything about it feels solid and well made. The Prophet-6, of course, is a top notch synthesizer. I love analog subtractive synthesis and and was looking for something that could do rich melty pads, chewy chord stabs (the high pass filter was a big selling point to me for these), deep solid basses, and plucky arps. I make mostly deep house, dub techno, and ambient. I'm trying to figure out if it's simply not the right synth for me, it's some kind of buyer's remorse psychology, or maybe I just haven't learned my way around it yet. I have to say that I haven't fallen in love with it like I hoped I would. I've been lusting after a Prophet-6 for about a year so when one showed up on Reverb right as I was considering making the choice, I jumped on it.Īnd. (I spent six years writing a textbook.) I told myself that when it was done, I'd reward myself with any piece of gear I wanted. A few months ago, I finished a huge personal project.
